Complex cookie cutters

• 6 cups flour
• 3 tsp. baking powder
• 2 cups butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 tsp. vanilla extract or desired flavoring (I like almond myself)
• 1 tsp. salt

1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Mix dry ingredients and add a little at a time to butter mixture. Mix until flour is completely incorporated and the dough comes together.
2. Chill for 1 to 2 hours (or see Hint below)
3. Roll to desired thickness and cut into desired shapes. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 350
   degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until just beginning to turn brown around the edges. This recipe
   can make up to 5-dozen 3” cookies

Soft Sugar Cookies Recipe

This Soft Sugar Cookies recipe make 18 cookies.

Ingredients

• 2 cups unbleached flour, sifted
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup shortening
• 1/4 cup butter or margarine
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 large egg yolk
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 large egg white

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 375F. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together and set aside. In a medium bowl, cream together shortening and butter using a spoon. Slowly add sugar, continuing to work until light. Add egg yolk and beat until fluffy.
2. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla, then gently fold in stiffly beaten egg white. Drop by rounded tablespoons 3 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten to half-inch thickness. Bake 20 minutes.

Sugar Cookies Recipe

• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups sifted flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2/3 cup butter or margarine
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1 egg

Preparation

1. Sift together first three ingredients and set aside. Add butter or margarine to bowl and cream. Add vanilla, the begin gradually adding sugar, creaming after each addition. Add egg and beat, then add dry ingredients and blend well. Place dough in refrigerator to thoroughly chill. Preheat oven to 375F and lightly grease cookie sheet. Roll out dough and cut with floured cookie cutter. Bake 10-12 minutes.
